Easy and Delicious Camping Snacks

Take A Break! Camp A Little!

Oh, camping. Camping is great for several reasons. It’s a great activity for families to spend quality time together. It’s a super fun way to spend a weekend away with friends and away from work and the responsibilities of your day-to-day lives. It’s an awesome way to teach kids about the outdoors. The list goes on and on.

Camper enjoying a brisk morning

Of course, there are aspects of camping that many of us are not configured to. Many people don’t know how to dispose of waste and garbage in the wilderness. It’s not common to cook food outside over a bonfire in odd, makeshift containers. One thing that’s always a challenge for new campers, or seasoned campers who are out of ideas, is to plan the food they’re going to bring for their camping trip.

A Whole New World of Meal Planning

Easy camping meals are important when you’re out in the woods, because living outside, even if it’s temporarily, can be a drain on the bod. Being in direct sunlight all day can suck the energy right out of ya! If you’re camping in the summer, the heat can really drain a person’s energy. This means meals and snacks should be high in protein, sugar, and salt.

Really? Salt and sugar? If it’s hot, we need to replenish our electrolytes with sodium. When you’re burning energy constantly, you need to replenish the glucose in your body, which comes from sugar. So, now you have a reason to get your sugar fix! Just go camping! (Kidding…sort of.)

New Ideas

Simple camping recipe ideas can be hard to come by, especially if you want to have something to eat that’s easy to make, but is also unique and delicious. We all know about trail mix, hot dogs, hamburgers, granola bars, and the typical camping food ideas go on.

You might know how to prepare all the in-kitchen meals that are easy and delicious, but in the outdoors, it’s a whole new ballgame. There are tons of recipes and ideas on the web, but if you want to try out some easy, tasty, and unique snacks for your upcoming camping adventure, look no further.

If you want a sweet snack, this one will blow your wool, moisture-wicking socks off. Puppy chow. Oh, yeah. Who doesn’t love puppy chow? Sure, you think of this as a snack you make for a child’s sleepover or birthday party. Malty Puppy Chow is the new kid on the block, and you’re going to want to meet him.

All you need is Chex or Crispix cereal, Soda Fountain Malted Milk Powder, powdered sugar, peanut butter, chocolate, and butter. It’s prepared the same way basic puppy chow is prepared, but you can find the complete Malty Puppy Chow recipe here.
